“The universe is our playground. So we may as well have a little fun while we’re here.”
Bridget Emmerson
Lovely to meet you,
I’m going to get straight into it. I dig personal development with a passion. I see the positive side of making mistakes. Because it means there’s space to work on something and learn new ways of thinking and behaving.
As you will learn to do, I also regularly take time exploring how my emotions influence my actions and rectifying these when needed. But I wasn’t always like this. So if you’re feeling a little overwhelmed, I understand on a professional and personal level.
“I’m not going to sugar coat how I work.
Getting shit done is what I do. Working with you to help you to get shit done is what I love.
Seeing you get shit done is when I know we’re getting somewhere.
And that’s when great shit starts to happen.”
Bridget Emmerson
Like many of us I was defensive and terrified to acknowledge errors I was making in my life - because I felt like I was failing. Surely it wasn’t ME that was the problem? Eh hem. I could not take criticism. I took paths most travelled for fear of trying something new and being ‘bad’ at it. I constantly feared what other’s thought of me. And thought any success I did have, was simply based on luck.
But then it all changed. I took the scary step some of you are about to and learned about myself, my values and who I was. From that my mind was free from narratives and rules I had made up that were holding me back And that’s why I do what I do today.

Master of Counselling
Monash University, with High Distincion
After completing my Graduate Diploma in Psychology I have furthered my studies in appropriate therapeutic approaches and strategies to mental health needs across the corresponding developmental stages of childhood, adolescence, adulthood and old age.
Graduate Diploma of Psychology
Monash University, with Distinction
Through my studies I gained an understanding of human development across one’s lifespan; including biological, perceptual, cognitive, personality, social and emotional changes from infancy to adulthood. I also closely examined legislation relating to the practice of psychology and how to comply with such legislation, appreciating the role ethics plays in maintaining the integrity of the work. Working with the upmost professionalism in all our sessions and respecting your right to confidentiality is integral to building trust and the work we do together.
Positive Behaviour Support Practices (PBS)
Monash University, with High Distinction
PBS is grounded in the philosophical and scientific foundations of behaviour analysis, but also draws on and shares the values and methods of prevention science, implementation science, and more recently, positive psychology. It is underpinned by the philosophy that human beings thrive in predictable spaces where expectations are clear, new skills are taught, and positive behaviours are richly reinforced. I use these methods during sessions to also help you - but also those around you support you as well while you make positive changes.

There is nothing more practical than general life skills. These are something we learn along the way, rather than being guided. These are the skills that people need to make the most out of life, careers and relationships. They also help support you in achieving personal growth, deep self-awareness, emotional IQ, a balanced life, and healthy relationships. This is where I find the sweet spot is for a lot of the work I do. Starting from the ground up we can assess what’s working, what’s not and strategise ways for you to be supported while making the changes you desire.
